Towards the end of my first year of university, I came across an old piece of carpet, I wanted to use in my work. Initially, I wanted to maintain the fluidity of the material, whilst changing its structure and appearance, by coating it in something like concrete.

 

However, roofing grout proved a better alternative as it was able to be manoeuvred and styled much more easily. The array of smaller sculptures are evidence of my manipulation of the grout with different materials amounting to this conclusion

 

I was intrigued by the contrast of colour and purity.
