Why is the hair on our head deemed as beautiful, yet the hair in a plug hole considered disgusting?

This question formed the basis for my project, I started to explore this concept further by using my own hair.

 

I questioned the notion of why natural substances such as hair can be perceived as both alluring and yet as soon as it is removed from its usual context undesirable. The project helped me come to the conclusion that it all depends on the situation the substance is placed within.
